Fear is the mindkiller.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Anyone else a Dune fan? I'm reading Heretics of Dune right now, it's blowing me away.

Henry,

Of course you know, I'm a huge Dune fan.

The fact that you posted the Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear is a funny coincidence. We've got a monthly men's group going at the Franklin UU church, and the theme of our next meeting is fear and how to manage it.

We're encouraged to bring quotes, and I was going to recite the Litany from memory at the next meeting. How cool that you would have quoted it in your blog.

Yeah, that is a strange coincidence! I see that quote in random places sometimes, it's part of general pop culture now I think. I love the religious and philosophy quotes Frank Herbert includes in his writings, I can only hope that I'll be able to write like that someday ...

Howdy! I randomly found your blog (again) I hope you are well! As for Dune i have been mildly obsessed since highschool. I have read all of Frank Herbert's dune books about ten times each, and his son's Brian Herberts book, while not as good, i have read at least once.

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the sand; and he had two horns like a lamb, but his mouth was fanged and fiery as the dragon and his body shimmered and burned with great heat while it did hiss like the serpent. — Revised Orange Catholic Bible

Hey Jon! Nice to hear from you. Yeah I love when they put Orange Catholic Bible quotes in there, badass. I'm thinking about getting some people together at a bar or something in Boston to say goodbye, I'm heading off to Asia again for a little while, if you're free?
